APS Legal are specialists in estate planning and private client services. We provide expert advice and support in drafting Wills, setting up Trusts, preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney, and guiding families through probate and estate administration. Our focus is on helping clients protect their assets, plan for the future, and give peace of mind to their loved ones. We're based in Worksop and work with a nationwide network of over 500 highly qualified associates and in-house experts.
Role Purpose
To complete simple non-taxable estate administration following the legal requirements of the Administration of Estates Act and the Trustees Act and full administration of taxable and non-taxable estates, setting up trusts and deeds of variation.
What you'll do
- Communicating and maintaining a positive relationship with clients and associates via letter, email, and telephone.
- Collect relevant financial information for our solicitor to submit the probate application.
- Liaise with solicitors in relation to the probate application and HM Revenue & Customs queries.
- Collection or transfer of assets to the beneficiaries.
- Handle the transfer or sale of the deceased property, to include liaise with estate agents, solicitors and Executors.
- Complete and submit relevant informal income tax returns.
- Reconcile Executor accounts.
- Draft and complete estate accounts, reconciled to the Executor account.
- Obtain Executor approval of estate accounts.
- Make adequate searches in order to settle the estate upon completion of the administration.
Work Location
We operate a hybrid working policy here at APS Legal so you'll be working from our office with the rest of your team in Worksop on Mondays and Thursdays each week.
What you'll need to succeed
Essential
- Previous probate case management or administration
- Experience communicating directly with clients and third parties
- Experience working within a private client environment
- Strong communication skills - able to communicate clearly, professionally and sensitively with clients and beneficiaries and external organisations such as HMRC, the Land Registry and solicitors.
- Strong understanding and practical experience of the legal requirements of administering an estate and the paperwork needed to complete the probate process from beginning to end (collecting assets, settling liabilities and distributing assets).
