We have an exciting opportunity for a fully qualified accountant to join our divisional financial reporting team.
This role can be based at either our Huddersfield office (HD1) or Glasgow office (G51), this is a full time permanent opportunity. We operate a hybrid working model providing a balance of home and office working.
In this role you will take ownership of the month end close process for delivery of accurate and timely divisional month end reporting.
Acting as a trusted finance business partner, you will be proactively working with our division to drive insight and value creation across a number of our finance and business initiatives. You will play a key role in finance and will act as a key point of contact across our wider business.
This role will play an active part in the continuous improvement of our systems and processes; helping to shape and drive improvements across the financial and reporting processes, as well as assist in our ERP implementation as we continue our journey to enhance our management reporting and insight.
In this role you'll have exposure to senior management of the division and wider group - working closely with the business, operational finance, divisional stakeholders and well as external advisors.
Reporting to our Divisional Financial Controller, you will have full ownership of the Divisions financial and managerial reporting, ensuring timely reporting into Fintel plc’s internal and external results.
This role will involve managerial reporting, financial control and will also play a part on the statutory reporting for the divisional specific legal entities. This role will require working to tight reporting deadlines in support of our monthly, half year and full year deliverables.
This role also requires a firm understanding of technical accounting requirements. You will play a key role in ensuring our business is fully IFRS compliant and will have the opportunity to work with the business on complex transactions and revenue recognition principles. The role will also require input into the VAT return process and any other ad hoc compliance requirements as needed.
What you'll be doing
Preparation of monthly management accounts, including income statement, balance sheet, cash flow forecasts, variance analysis, KPIs and commentaries • Proactively business partner with the respective division to ensure we add value through insight and analysis ensuring clear communication and interpretation of financial data to relevant stakeholders as required • Liaise with external auditors across year for external reporting and statutory audit engagements, assisting with testing at planning and execution stage of the audit engagement • Assist in the upcoming ERP implementation and work with stakeholders to deliver on project milestones • Working with financial and operational teams to review processes and controls, identifying improvements and implementing solutions • Assist with merger and acquisition activity as required • To support Divisional Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller and CFO as required
What you need to succeed
Fully qualified accountant with a recognised professional accountancy body, having trained ideally with a Big 4 / Top 10 background accounting firm
This role is best suited to someone who has previous financial and management accounts experience in a complex business
Experience of IFRS or UK GAAP/FRS101 accounting standards
Excellent communication skills
Extensive Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint experience
Self-starter who is willing to learn and seek new challenges
Ability to work optimally as part of a team to inspire, share and listen to ideas
Ability to manage and develop direct reports
Previous audit experience and or experience within a large and or complex business would be an advantage
Salary: £45,000 per annum
