APS Legal and Associates are one of the UK’s largest and most reputable will writing and estate planning companies. With over 500 Associates nationwide, all of our Associates and in-house staff are fully qualified in advising on will writing, Lasting Powers of Attorney, trusts as well as probate services.
We are recruiting for a Senior Probate Case Manager to join our Probate team and complete estate administrations following the legal requirements of the Administration of Estates Act and the Trustees Act. This includes full administration of taxable and non-taxable estates, setting up trusts and deeds of variation.
The role is based in Worksop with the flexibility to balance home working as required.
What you'll be doing
Administering complex, taxable estates in accordance with the relevant laws and in a timely manner
Communicating and maintaining a relationship with clients and associates via letter, email and telephone
Collecting relevant financial information for our solicitor to submit the probate application
Liaising with solicitors in relation to the probate application and HM Revenue & Customs queries on taxable estates
Collection or transfer of assets to the beneficiaries
Handling the transfer or sale of the deceased property, to include liaising with estate agents, solicitors and executors
Completing and submitting relevant income tax returns
Reconciling Executor accounts
Drafting and completing estate accounts, reconciled to the Executor account
Obtaining Executor approval of estate accounts
Completing adequate searches in order to settle the estate upon completion of the administration
Ensuring deadlines are being met on own files and files within team
Ensuring policies and procedures are being followed
Staying up to speed with training and compliance for self and team
Ensuring own knowledge is developed and maintained through relevant continued professional development
What you need to succeed
Previous experience in the administration of estates both taxable and non-taxable
Experience in managing a case load of files
Experience communicating with clients and third parties
Preferably STEP or ILEX qualified or willing to work towards the qualification
Excellent communication skills both written and oral
Accurate and efficient
Willing to adapt and implement new processes and procedures
Ability to work under pressure
Enthusiastic and creative
